At Social Change and Development (SCAD), our unwavering commitment to positive social transformation has led us to launch numerous initiatives aimed at improving the lives of individuals in rural communities. One of our proudest achievements is our Eye Camps program, which has made a remarkable impact on the vision and well-being of countless individuals.
In the remote and underserved regions of Both Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts, access to quality eye care can be challenging, leaving many without the gift of sight. SCAD’s Eye Camps initiative seeks to change this reality by providing essential eye care services to school children and the general public.
To date, we have successfully organized a staggering 452 Eye Camps, reaching out to thousands of individuals in need. Through these camps, we have been able to restore the vision of over 20,000 people, enabling them to see the world with newfound clarity. Additionally, we have provided eyeglasses to 4,700 children and adults, further enhancing their visual capabilities.
Our Eye Camps owe their success to the expertise and dedication of our partnering institutions, Aravind Eye Care System, Tirunelveli, and Agarwal Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli. These renowned institutions are well-regarded for their exceptional eye care services, and they generously extend their support by providing expert medical teams to ensure the success of each camp.
Through our Eye Camps, we aim to achieve several crucial objectives:
Vision Restoration: Our cataract surgery interventions have given the gift of sight back to thousands, empowering them to lead fuller and more independent lives.
Visual Enhancement: For those with vision impairments not requiring surgery, we provide eyeglasses, enabling children and adults to excel in their daily activities.
Preventive Care: We educate participants on eye health, enabling them to take better care of their eyes and prevent future issues.
SCAD’s Eye Camps program is a beacon of hope for individuals who once lived in darkness. We invite you to join hands with us as we continue our mission to illuminate lives in Both Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts.
By supporting SCAD, you’re not just contributing to improved vision; you’re helping to create a brighter, more vibrant future for communities in need. Together, we can make a profound impact, one pair of healthy eyes at a time.
If you’re interested in partnering with us, volunteering, or contributing to our cause, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your support can help us continue our vital work in these communities and expand our reach even further. Together, we can bring light to those who need it most.
At SCAD, we believe that change begins with the restoration of sight, and development is best achieved when compassionate hearts and dedicated hands come together. Join us in our mission to illuminate lives and brighten the futures of individuals in rural Both Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts.
