At Social Change and Development (SCAD), our commitment to inclusivity and compassion shines brightly through Anbu Illam, which translates to ‘House of Love’ in Tamil. Anbu Illam stands as a beacon of hope and a sanctuary for physically and mentally disabled children, offering them the love, care, and support they need to thrive.
Anbu Illam welcomes children facing a range of challenges, including polio, impaired hearing, learning disabilities, mental disabilities, developmental disorders, autism, and cerebral palsy. Our mission is to provide them with a nurturing and empowering environment where they can flourish.
The heart of Anbu Illam lies in our dedicated and professional team, which includes occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, counselors, and rehabilitation officers. These experts work tirelessly to treat and rehabilitate the children, helping them develop essential life skills and overcome their physical and mental challenges.
Currently, Anbu Illam provides institutional care to 75 disabled children, ensuring they receive the specialized care and attention they need to thrive. This care encompasses not only physical well-being but also emotional and social development.
Our campus is designed to be a barrier-free environment, enabling physically disabled children to move freely and socialize with their peers. Additionally, our orthotic center produces supportive devices such as crutches, artificial limbs, and belts, further enhancing the mobility and independence of our residents.
Anbu Illam is more than just a care center; it is a vibrant and social place where children find friendship, support, and a sense of belonging. Here, they learn to support one another, forming bonds that are invaluable on their journey to independence.
Through our unwavering efforts at Anbu Illam, we are making a profound impact on the lives of differently-abled children. We open doors for these children, granting them access to education, essential care, and vital life skills that pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.
Through various programs such as therapy, counseling, training, initiating business opportunities, and connecting to governmental aids, we have changed the lives of approximately 2,250 children with special needs. These initiatives empower them to lead fulfilling lives and contribute to their communities.
We invite you to be a part of this transformative journey at Anbu Illam. By supporting SCAD, you’re not just contributing to the well-being of differently-abled children; you’re helping us build a society that recognizes and values the potential of every child, regardless of their abilities.
If you’re interested in partnering with us, volunteering, or contributing to our cause, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your support can help us continue our vital work in nurturing hearts and empowering lives at Anbu Illam and beyond.
At SCAD, we believe that true change begins with compassion and inclusivity. Together, we can create a world where every child, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to lead a life filled with love, care, and boundless possibilities.
