Our disaster relief and rehabilitative measures have provided crucial material, mental, and medical support during various disasters, promoting recovery and resilience among affected populations. Our Disaster Response team along with the student community from all our institutions, actively involved in saving lives when the Tsunami struck the coastal belts of Kanyakumari Districts in 2004. SCAD team of 400 volunteers reached the Tsunami affected area within 5 hours of the disaster where scores of dead bodies were cleared from the debris of the tsunami affected villages. In order to curtail the spread of communicable diseases, immunization camps were organized in the Tsunami affected villages. SCAD provided food, water, medicines, mats, bed sheets and clothes for 40,000 victims. Over 40,000 people were given medical care and treatment. Trauma Counseling Teams were sent by SCAD to all the Tsunami affected villages where nearly 1,500 people were counseled. Furthermore 1,000 catamarans, boats and engines were repaired and handed over to the affected people. 75 Medical Camps were conducted for thousands of affected people.
Similar support was extended during other natural disasters like cyclones and floods.
