Education is a fundamental human right which every child is entitled to. Education is critical to human development and society; it helps pave the way to the successful and productive future for a nation. When we can ensure that children have access to a rights-based, quality education that is rooted in gender equality we create a ripple effect of opportunity that impacts generations to come. Inequalities condemn millions of children, particularly girls, to a life without quality education and therefore to a life of missed opportunities.
Education for rural people is crucial in achieving ‘Education...
The focus of a health related activity is to prevent and manage diseases and other physical and mental health conditions through the promotion of healthy behaviour in the community and the environment. Promoting health, including the reduction of health inequalities and generating and disseminating health information and knowledge, helps in aligning future health. Many diseases are preventable through simple, non-medical methods, like hand washing with soap which prevents many contagious diseases.
SCAD intervened in health related activities in response to the growing concern over emerging...
It always has been SCAD’s wish to develop students in an exceptional way. The staff of Anbu Illam (school for differently-abled children) took an initiative to give special coaching to the students in such a way that they could try for the Tamil Nadu Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) State Board examinations for the academic year 2011-2012. As a result, nine disabled children were given special care and training by the SCAD staff to appear for the Board examination.

Rural women are usually poorer than their male counterparts, more vulnerable, own no land, are less educated and in poorer health. They struggle because of low paid work and care for the home. The women are often ignorant of their rights, liberties and privileges. Being women, they are likely to have little or no say in the financial matters within her house. A girl child is deprived of schooling or literacy for no other reason than that she is a female and it is this illiteracy that often excludes her from written knowledge and participation in decision making, affecting both the household and the community.

SCAD have conducted a special programme for the families of people who have been served with life sentences in prison. The trauma to family members due to the life imprisonment of their beloved ones is terrible. Not only that, after the life convict is released from the prison and he returns to his family, his life is at risk because of the revengeful nature of the son or brother of the murdered person, and this becomes a vicious circle. SCAD supports the families of the life convicts with education, income generating programmes and counseling.
SCAD held a day-out for these families at the Cheranmahadevi...
