At SCAD, we are deeply committed to fostering stronger, self-reliant communities. We work in diverse communities, offering a range of services in education, healthcare, financial support, income generation programs, agriculture, and skills training. Additionally, we have dedicated initiatives aimed at preserving the natural environment and providing assistance to special groups within the community who may have no other support.
Within these communities, we empower individuals and groups to become catalysts for change. Women’s self-help groups, farmer associations, and youth groups serve as community hubs, nurturing individuals with the ability and vision to motivate their communities toward positive transformation.
Our ultimate goal is to see communities relying on their own sustainable solutions. To achieve this, we encourage communities to contribute a proportion of the cost for the initiatives we provide, typically between 10% and 20% of the total project cost. This shared responsibility reinforces the sense of ownership and sustainability.
It typically takes an average of 12 years for a village to become self-sustaining. SCAD has already withdrawn support from 260 villages that have successfully transitioned to independence. Join us in our mission to empower even more communities to stand on their own.
