At Social Change and Development (SCAD), our commitment to environmental sustainability goes hand in hand with our dedication to empowering individuals, especially women, in the Tirunelveli and Tuticorin regions. Through the establishment of five plant nurseries, we are not only nurturing greenery but also sowing the seeds of financial stability, self-confidence, and independence.

Raising Thousands of Plant Saplings Annually

Our plant nurseries serve as the backbone of our green initiatives, raising an impressive 300 to 400 thousand plant saplings each year. These saplings play a crucial role in expanding our green cover, contributing to environmental conservation and restoration efforts.

Empowering Women Through Specialized Training

Central to our plant nursery initiatives is the empowerment of women. We provide specialized training to women, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to raise healthy and robust plant saplings. This training goes beyond just nurturing plants; it empowers these women with valuable skills that can be applied in various aspects of their lives.

Financial Stability and Independence

Our plant nursery initiatives have been transformative for the beneficiaries. A Helping Hand During COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, including job losses and economic hardship. In response, we extended a helping hand to 30 women who had lost their livelihoods due to the pandemic. We provided them with training and engaged them in raising plant saplings, offering them a lifeline during a time of crisis.
