At Social Change and Development (SCAD), we are deeply committed to making a positive impact in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Here is where we work and the communities we serve:
Tirunelveli: We work extensively in Tirunelveli district, engaging with a multitude of villages to address various challenges and promote sustainable development.
Tenkasi: Our initiatives also extend to Tenkasi district, where we collaborate with local communities to empower them and enhance their well-being.
Ramnad: In Ramnad district, we work to bring about positive change by addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by rural populations.
Tuticorin: Tuticorin district is another area of focus, where we strive to improve the lives of marginalized communities through a range of programs and support.
Kanyakumari: Our reach extends to Kanyakumari district, where we work to create a lasting impact and promote sustainable development.
The southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu is home to nearly 70 million people, and the rural poor make up a significant portion of the population. The region grapples with a range of challenges, including water shortages, poor soil quality, and a lack of access to essential health, educational, and social services.
At SCAD, our mission is to empower these communities and encourage them to address these challenges directly. We provide training and support in community development, enabling villagers to take control of their own destinies and work towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
In Tamil Nadu, the average wage is less than Rs. 30,000 ($600) per annum. This stark reality underscores the urgent need for our work in the region. By offering comprehensive support and innovative solutions, we aim to uplift communities, improve livelihoods, and provide access to the fundamental services that many take for granted in developed nations.
Through our collaborative efforts, we are working to transform lives, create positive change, and build a more equitable and prosperous future for the people of Tamil Nadu. Together with the communities we serve, we are committed to overcoming challenges and fostering sustainable development that leaves no one behind.
